Wenxin Liu Ph.D.

Associate Professor
Packard Lab 550A

Wenxin Liu received his BS and MS degrees in Controls from Northeastern University of China and PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Before joining the Lehigh faculty in 2014, he served as an assistant professor at New Mexico State University. He has published more than 30 papers in IEEE transactions and other journals. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Office of Naval Research, Department of Energy, and California Energy Commission.

Wenxin Liu’s research has been focused on advanced controls of power systems and power electronic systems. Example projects include distributed networked control of wide-area power systems, control and optimization of renewable microgrid, pulsed power load accommodation on shipboard power systems, and paralleled and cascaded inverter systems. His Smart Microgrid and Renewable Technology (SMRT) research lab is well equipped for advanced power and control studies. Major equipment include an OPAL-RT real-time simulator, a renewable microgrid testbed, and a modular multi-level converter.
